Thom Ricks has been a professional illustrator/artist his entire adult life. Dedicated and curious, he has traveled extensively, sketching and painting his way around the globe numerous times. In his Texas Hill Country art studio, Thom captures the essence of his travels using architecture and vivid colors, translating the spirit of these places onto canvas.

Being loyal to his career and curious about the world, Thom has made his way to far off places from Egypt to New Zealand, from England to Japan, from Brazil to Italy, from Greece to Belize, from Ireland to Mexico, and most recently to France on his recent trips, sketching and painting his way around the world many many times.

While enjoying living this creative life he has found his way into many collections in and around his home in the Texas Hill Country as well as throughout the US.

Thom loves to travel abroad. He loves to sketch and paint on location all over the world and then return to his studio to work on the canvases. In his studio he captures the essence of a location through its architecture and vivid colors. He translates this spirit onto canvases in compositional and tonal patterns much like a musical score.   

Sharing his creative and spiritual journey with his partner and wife Jodi, they have produced ten books, including Dare to Dream, Brilliant, Tommy's Magic Door, Love Poems From doG, Thom Ricks’ Sketchbook, Umbrian Sketches, and Thom’s most recent book, The Art of the River Walk.
